We are seeking an Outreach and Engagement Coordinator to support the University-Rosedale Provincial NDP constituency association.

We are looking for a candidate with experience designing and executing successful outreach campaigns with an emphasis on volunteer engagement, fundraising and digital campaigns. If you have run successful political campaigns before, that’s a bonus!

Our volunteers are essential to our success as a constituency association.

The contract will begin once we fill the position with the right candidate and will extend for 6 months from the start date, with a likely opportunity for renewal leading up to the planned 2022 provincial election. (this includes a three-month probationary period.)

We are the Ontario NDP constituency association serving Toronto’s vibrant University-Rosedale electoral district. We are a group of volunteers working towards the re-election of our candidate, the incumbent JESSICA BELL

ROLE OF THE OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Outreach to, and engagement of, potential supporters and volunteers

Sustaining and engaging existing members and supporters

Fundraising

Data Management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning:

  • Working with the Election Planning Committee (EPC), and volunteers to develop an engagement plan, including measured campaign goals
  • Executing an engagement and volunteer recruitment plan
  • Analyzing campaign progress and recommending refinements

Outreach:

  • Creating digital online engagement tools i.e New Mode, Google Forms etc.
  • Designing social media shareables
  • Writing social media content
  • Writing compelling email updates
  • Writing persuasive copy for email fundraising campaigns
  • Organizing canvasses and poster blitzes - (ensuring we follow Toronto Public Health COVID 19 pandemic protocols at all times)
  • Organizing and participating in regular phone banks
  • Training new volunteers
  • Festivals and public events when safe to do so

Updating and growing our supporter list, using Populus, CallHub and Dandelion

POSITION DETAILS

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will be accountable to the Election Planning Committee Co-Chairs and will work closely with volunteers to execute our campaigns. In particular, they will work closely alongside our Communications, Fundraising, Outreach and Volunteer Committee Coordinators.

We anticipate the Outreach Engagement Coordinator will dedicate thirty hours a week for these responsibilities, with some weeks being busier than others. Our monthly budget for this position is $3000.00.

Given the nature of our work, we will require strict confidentiality. The successful candidate will sign a confidentiality agreement. All staff and volunteers must agree to our Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Agreement.

REQUIREMENTS

Excellent written communication and design skills

Strong understanding of digital and social media advertising

Experience in organizing

Painstaking attention to detail

Superior self-organization and ability to coordinate multiple projects with minimal supervision

Relationship-building skills for cooperation and coordination between volunteers and staff at all levels

Sharp political acumen

Dedication to our goals of a greener, fairer, more just and prosperous society

Experience in or knowledge of the Ontario NDP an asset

Flexible hours to meet with volunteers evenings and weekends as required

This contract is remote with the chance of some in-riding events dependent on COVID-19 safety guidelines.

You will be required to use your own computer and phone (with reimbursement for phone related charges)

Knowledge of another language spoken in University-Rosedale considered an asset
